How do I make a nice bag tags?
At school,I see my friends wear this tags they hang on their bags. It's really beautiful and I really would like to do it myself 'cuz I like ARTS & CRAFTs. And I have these items:
Leftover Fabric
Leftover Wrappers
Scissors,Tape,Color Pens-The Normals
Things needed to sew stuff and sequins+beads
Glitter
Should I get cardboard for the base? Can you give me tips and steps on how to do this and if your tips/steps include laminate paper, where can I buy some in Malaysia?
P.S I'm younger than 14 so please you know make it easy,y'know.
You can make some nice tags with the materials you already have. Here is one way to do that:
1. Cut a rectangle of cardboard slightly smaller than you want the tag to be.
2. Trim one end of the rectangle into a tag top shape (just cut off the corners and leave some space in the middle to punch a hole through to add string/yarn/leather thong/shoelace later and tie it to the bag)
3. Cut two pieces of fabric slightly bigger than the cardboard shape, and stitch them together (wrong sides facing) leaving one end open.
4. Turn the fabric shapes right side out, place the cardboard inside and finish sewing the fabric shut around the cardboard. Pierce a hole through the fabric where you punched a hole in the cardboard and add some fray check or clear nail polish to the raw edges of the fabric
5. Stitch on some buttons, gems, beads and maybe embroider swirls, stems, leaves etc onto the tag.
6. If you would like, add some yarn fringe to the bottom of the tag
7. Thread your tie through the punched holes and tie this to your bag.
You can make tags of any shape this way. You may find felt is easier to work with than fabric as it will not fray, you can glue it to the cardboard, and you can stitch around it (use blanket stitch?) easily. You can also glue more felt shapes to the tag to make facial features for animals, flower centres, etc. And sequins, embroidery or beads look great on felt.
