Trash Bags used to make you sweat more?
I was having a chat with a friend whom is a in Boxing. He says he trains with a trash bag over him while he trains, and at the end of his workout, all this water comes out. I was wondering is it the same trash bags I have at home, the big black ones. Or ones you can find at sporting goods?
Any ideas?
The trash bags you use at home. I used to do this technique when I was at my first boxing gym. You can buy a nylon sweat suit through Ringside or Title Boxing but I've had problems with their durability.
Here is the idea behind a trashbag. If you are coming up on a fight and need to lose excess water weight, you will obviously want to sweat out as much as possible and dehydrate yourself. But if you are just training, people will wonder why you want to sweat so much because when you rehyrdate yourself, the weight is regained. Here is why. Sweating is a way for the body to cool itself off. To sweat, your body must generate sweat through the glands and that takes energy and burns calories to produce the sweat. So in a hard workout, you might burn (this is not an exact science just an example) twice the amount of calories if you are using the trashbag and generating more sweat.
