It doesn't, obviously. But we're created in a dangerous world, to prepare us for the next world. Accidents happen, evil people harm others, diseases get spread.
This isn't "the real world" to people with faith, it's just a pale shadow, a pre-school.
I agree, that story broke my heart, and I wish she'd had more time here to learn, explore and develop. But we live in a dangerous world.
God is the creator, he's not Spiderman swinging in to save us.
