printing problem with canon pixma ip6210D?
I have a problem with my printer canon pixma ip6210D
I have replaced a new CL51 cartridge and the following error message appears
THE FOLLOWING INK CARTRIDGE HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY USED
THE FUNCTION FOR DETECTING THE REMAINING INK LEVEL WILL BE DISABLED SINCE THE INK LEVEL CANNOT BE CORRECTLY DETECTED
when I print okay for the above message it does not print
I spoke to canon agent and they told me to take out all cartridges and leave machine off for 1/2 hour and relace cartridges and restatrt -this also does not work
in summary the CL-51 cartridge does not read on the display
Any suggestions anybody
oddly, i thought the 6210 took the cl41 (which is a lower capacity colour cart), but if canon's tech didn't have an issue with you having a cl-51, that must not be the case.
sorry,, just thinking to myself there...
is it a brand new 51 or a refilled 51? refills generally bring up this message, and you have to follow some weird sequence on the printer display to get past it.
one thing you might try is very gently wiping the copper contacts with a paper towel (lint free is best if you can find it, but a regular one will work) and some rubbing alcohol or windex. this will clean anything foreign off the contacts and *might* get you past that error message.
if that doesn't work though, you might need to call canon again or try to return/exchange that cartridge at the place of purchase.
